With a freshly restored driveway and full hearts on a rainy day, a beautiful crew of students, staff and parents came together for the first day of the 2011-2012 Oyase Community School Year - September 29, 2011. We lit a physical fire in the rain inspired by the blazing fire in our hearts happy for another year of learning about ourselves, the natural world, and how to tend our relationships. If you would like to join us, we have room at our fire that we are tending through the beauty of rain, sun, warm and cold, snow, wind and calm.

Oyase Community School, started in 1999, brings together children and adults from throughout the region to create a multi-age learning environment that engages and inspires children and teens to learn real life skills, confidence in their own being, and developing relationships with the natural world and each other. Students are guided by an experienced team of instructors skilled in facilitating learning of Earth Living Skills, Nature Awareness and Community Skills.

As a community-based school, each family contributes 12 hours of community service to help run the program and strengthen relationships between families. Financial Aid is available. The Parent-run Community Wilderness Initiative offers Oyase Community School through Vermont Wilderness School.
